GRAND BALLROOM (The Sanctuary)
Featuring a soaring 58-foot ceiling, the breathtaking Grand Ballroom is one of Seattle’s most beloved and sought-after venues. A painstaking $40 million restoration touched virtually every aspect of the building, preserving the traditional features of the building, its original 1908 stained glass windows, carved woodwork, terra cotta moldings, and full-wall pipe organ, while adding subtle modern touches, including a striking halo light fixture suspended over a balcony bar - the Halo Bar. Picturesque Architecture has been paired with innovation and modern design touches by Designer Philippe Starck.
With the North and South Balcony, the Grand Ballroom is suitable for large-scale international conferences or weddings and can accommodate up to 400 guests for banquets and 975 guests for receptions.
ABOUT THE SANCTUARY
Constructed in 1908, The Sanctuary is a Beaux-Arts architectural building, which previously served as the home of Seattle's first congregation, the First United Methodist Church. The historic building was beloved by the community and carefully restored to become a newly renovated venue that now houses the Grand Ballroom, Halo Bar on the Balcony, and Ballroom 1+2. The renovated building preserves traditional pieces of the church such as the pipe organ and beautiful stained-glass windows and the original dome ceiling structure. In 2011, The Sanctuary was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
